Academic Achievement Award
Success isn’t measured only by ribbons, trophies or points earned in the show pen. At the Michigan Quarter Horse Youth Association (MQHYA), we believe that true achievement is reflected in every aspect of a young person’s life, including the classroom. We all know how demanding showing horses at this level can be, and that it is sometimes difficult to juggle the demands of our training and show schedule with school deadlines and studying.
The MQHA Youth Academic Achievement Award was created to recognize youth members who demonstrate the same dedication, discipline and commitment to excellence in their education that they bring to the care of their horses and competition in the show arena. This honor roll program is designed to recognize outstanding achievement by youth members in their schoolwork and will be awarded to qualifying youth members twice per year. Fall semester grades will be recognized at MQHA Convention and spring semester grades will be recognized at MQHA Harbor Classic.
Two award levels will be recognized based on each student’s grade point average.
- Gold – holding a 3.5 GPA or higher and
- Silver – holding a 3.0 – 3.49 GPA.
Application forms must be scanned and turned in via email to: mqhaoffice@gmail.com. The information can also be faxed to 616-225-8313. Applications must be accompanied by a valid transcript for the appropriate semester. The deadline to turn in applications is June 15 for spring grades recognized at the Harbor Classic and January 3 for fall grades recognized at the Convention. No late applications will be accepted.
